In Her Shoes

MEET JULIANA

#InHerShoes / 2021

Ok yes, our shoes are real cute, but what's even more cute and cool and stylish and inspiring are all the badass people in our shoes. So this year, we decided to pass the mic to some longtime supporters and CS connoisseurs, and asked them to help bring our shoes to life. The challenge? Style one shoe three different ways and tell us a little bit about yourself while doing it. The result? As expected, incredible.

Keep scrolling to see what Juliana (@julianagetsdressed on IG) gets up to in our Acid Estees.

Who are you and what are you about?
I'm a graphic designer/artist. I work as a Communications and Marketing Manager for a not-for-profit association, and I do graphic design/graphic art freelance work on the side. My wardrobe and styling is my biggest hobby! I hope to one day have enough space for my clothing collection! I love to spend my free time thrifting or cuddling my rescue pup.

Where are you from & where do you live now?
I grew up in San Diego, Barcelona, and London (which I think makes me sound much cooler than I actually am); and I am currently living in Sacramento, CA.

How did you find out about Charlotte Stone?
I'm pretty sure the first time I saw a pair of Charlotte Stone shoes it was on the amazing Michelle Norris of @michellenorrisphoto.

Describe your style in three words.

Colorful, comfortable, playful.

On an average day, you’ll find me in:
Jeans, a thrifted top, brightly colored shoes and lots of gold jewelry.

When I’m not working, you’ll find me:
Thrifting for clothing and house goods, cozy on the couch watching Survivor with my doggy and boyfriend, or scrolling through TikTok in the bath (my guilty pleasure!).

What are you passionate about?
I love to stay on top of trends (even if I don't choose to wear them or incorporate them into my home), being a designer I feel like this is super important for me! I also feel passionately about doing what I can to improve my community by being aware of the issues and educating myself as best I can.

Who or what inspires or influences your style?
I'd say I probably get 90% of my style inspo from Instagram! During the pandemic I've put a lot more time and work into posting regularly on my account and sharing myself, as well as engaging with my peers. It has been so rewarding to have more back and forth with people I can relate to and people I admire! It has also led to me gaining sooo much more confidence to dress the way that I feel happiest and most like myself. Recently the account I have been saving the most style inspo pics from is @watchingnewyork, I really appreciate the variation in style and people represented!

Do you have a style icon? Why are they your style icon?
I don't feel like I do!

I try to keep my inspiration sources really wide and varied so that I continue to develop my own style and opinions, instead of following any one source too closely.

What are you watching or reading or hobbying right now?
I just finished The White Lotus on HBO and ohhhhh myyyy goodness! I haven't enjoyed a show that much in a long time! The thought in soundtrack, videography, styling, everything was superb! I'm also really enjoying Making It on Hulu (crafting show with Amy Poehler and Nick Offerman). It's really silly and light hearted and makes me feel happy! It is also a good reminder to not overthink things and just let the inspiration flow!
I read mostly murder mystery novels, but recently have gotten back into an Augusten Burroughs kick. He is an amazing writer with such an interesting past he writes about. I recommend 10 out of 10.

What three things could you not live without?
My sweet doggy, La Croix, and my anxiety medication!

What article of clothing are you living in right now?
Biker shorts! They have been a life saver this summer in hot hot hot Sacramento. And they are also a work from home staple!

Biker shorts + button down = the best zoom meeting outfit.

What “traditional” styling rule do you love to break?
Wearing things that are "flattering"! Screw what is traditionally "flattering" to your body type and wear whatever the heck you want!

What is one weird fashion trend from your youth that you kind of wish came back?
Toe rings and magnetic piercings! I used to wear these all the time when I was a kid. Now that I'm reminded of them, I might just have to go get myself some! haha

What is one thing about yourself people might be surprised to find out?
I speak three languages fluently! English, Spanish, and Catalan :) And I'm very afraid of riding horses!!!
